PRAYER CONFERENCE 2026: October 17, 2026 | College Heights Church. There is a generation worth
fighting for. Our children need our prayers. Our families need God’s presence. And now is the time
to stand in the gap and believe God for the hearts and lives of our children to be reclaimed for Him. Join
us as we come together in word and prayer to reclaim our children for God, believing for protection,
restoration, healing, and a generation that knows and follows Him. We are honored to welcome Keith
Richter as our guest. This is more than a conference. It’s a call to stand in the gap and fight for our
children on our knees. Questions email prayer@chsda.ca
THEY’RE WAITING FOR YOU Right now, there are children in our Children’s Sabbath School, Adventurers, and Pathfinders programs who need a leader—someone who will show up, learn their name, encourage them, and point them to Jesus. Could that be you? Volunteers are urgently needed! If you’re willing to make a difference in the life of a child, please contact Pr. Liz at 613-867-3350 to find out how you can help.
NEW ASSISTIVE HEARING SYSTEM We’re testing Auracast, a new wireless broadcast audio technology that provides clear, high-quality sound with minimal delay. If you’d like to try it, please contact Larry Murrin before Sabbath School or the Worship Service, and he’ll be happy to help you get set up.
ROOM & BOARD NEEDED FOR PAA STUDENT A family from Calgary is looking for a room and board arrangement for their son, who will be attending Grade 12 at PAA during the 2026–2027 school year. If you are able to help please contact Pastor Honey at 403 862 1857 or htodd@albertaadventist.ca.
PARKING REMINDER Please do not park in the parking stalls facing Maple Hall. These stalls are numbered and have signage. Students are back in residence and have paid for their little piece of pavement; they would be grateful for a place to park on the Sabbath. Thank you kindly for your understanding and cooperation!
FIND YOUR LIFE GROUP Looking for a deeper connection with God and your church family? Joining a Life Group could become a pivotal moment in your spiritual journey. Life Groups are a place to build meaningful friendships, grow in faith, study God’s Word, pray together, and walk through life with others. This Sabbath, meet our Life Group leaders in the church foyer, learn more about the groups available, and find one that fits you. Take the next step—sign up! Your journey was never meant to be walked alone.
HILLTOP SOCIAL Join us today, September 5, at 6:00 p.m. at the Lake Barnett fire pit for an evening of Sundown Worship, fellowship, and supper with your church family! Bring your own chair or blanket and come enjoy a relaxed evening together. After supper, head to the Burman Gym at 8:30 p.m. for open gym and pool. Bring your friends and come enjoy the evening!

WHY IS “FORGIVENESS” GOOD FOR YOUR HEALTH? Holding a grudge can affect the body in ways that undermine your health, while forgiveness may help restore balance. As time passes, is it helpful to hold on to feelings of distress or ill will? While avoiding someone, stonewalling them, or plotting revenge may feel natural, these reactions are not good for your health and well-being. Letting go of anger and extending goodwill toward those who have harmed us can help restore our internal equilibrium, helping us sleep better and live healthier lives. The act of forgiveness can release oxytocin, the “bonding hormone,” which promotes feelings of trust and connection, along with endorphins and dopamine, creating a sense of relief. “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4:32. ~ Your Health Ministry Team

About 7 years ago, Orlando and I signed up for one of those muddy endurance races. Tough Mudder is an obstacle course race series, roughly 5-6 km long, featuring a bunch of physical challenges. Some of the more memorable stations involve running through hanging wires that deliver little electric shocks, plunging into a dumpster full of ice water, and sprinting up a curved, slippery quarter-pipe. Going in, I was nervous, I didn’t know what to expect, and a back injury had me approaching the whole thing timidly. At the start line, they fully hype you up: loud music pumping, excited runners, people in costumes, chants rippling through the crowd. Then you start running, and before long you hit the first station. Then the next. And the next. Run, climb, crawl, run again, a seemingly never-ending cycle of exhaustion.
But what scared me more than the course itself was the anxious anticipation. Was it my imagination, or was each station harder than the last? The way our minds can inflate something into far more than it actually is can be debilitating. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 reminds us “Although we live in the world, we don’t fight our battles with human methods. Our weapons that we fight with aren’t human, but instead they are powered by God for the destruction of fortresses. They destroy arguments, and every defense that is raised up to oppose the knowledge of God. They capture every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
So how do we take every thought captive? How do we stop a spiral of ruminating worry before it keeps us up at night? We might start by asking ourselves: Is this true? Is this thought from God, or is it fear? Would I let a friend believe this about themselves?
Many of us are entering a season of new beginnings, September brings new classrooms, new jobs, new teachers, new routines. When anxiety starts creeping in and threatens to take over your mind, remember that Jesus is present, and He defeats anything that isn’t of God. Taking a thought captive is not pretending that everything is fine and dandy, it is stopping every anxious thought from having a permanent spot in your mind without being checked against what is true. What is one thought you need to stop in its tracks today, instead of letting it sit in your mind unchecked? Name it. Write it down. Surrender it to Jesus. Here’s some Scripture to carry with you into whatever battle you’re facing this season: Psalm 94: 19, Lamentations 3:22-23, Philippians 4:8, Proverbs 3:5-6, Isaiah 55:8-9, Psalm 18:2, Isaiah 41:10.
