SHARE YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT Have something to share with our church family? We welcome announcements for our weekly bulletin, including ministry updates, community events, and special celebrations. Submit here by Wednesday at noon to be included in the upcoming Sabbath bulletin (space permitting).

Have you ever yawned simply because someone across the room did? You weren’t tired. Nobody asked you to. Your body just caught it, like a cold you never knew you were exposed to.
That small, almost silly moment points to something remarkable about how we’re made. Neuroscientists have identified what they call “mirror neurons,” cells in the brain that fire in the same pattern whether we perform an action ourselves or simply watch someone else do it. When we hear a person’s story or witness their pain, our brains respond as though we lived it. Our feelings begin to mirror theirs. We are wired to imitate. The question is not whether we will be shaped by those around us, but by whom.
Paul puts it plainly: “Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children, and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us” (Ephesians 5:1-2). He also tells us to “carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ” (Galatians 6:2).
God designed us to feel with one another. But we cannot carry others’ burdens on our own strength. The more we sit with hurting people, the more we must sit with Christ, letting His compassion, steadiness, and peace become what we reflect. So ask yourself: whose posture, whose tone, whose heart am I mirroring today?
Choose well. You’re already catching it.
