GRATITUDE It is not happiness that brings us Gratitude. It is Gratitude that brings us happiness! Patience in all things & the ability to find happiness in the small things in life, can make all the difference in ensuring that we continue to get the most out of life. Practicing Gratitude is the opposite of dwelling on regrets, which gets us dissatisfaction! Gratitude provides you with a “win-win” resolution to bad situations. It makes it easier for you & easier for those around you. Having people you care about stay around, is a prime factor in maintaining good health! On this Canada Day, July 1st, & Independence Day, July 4th, we encourage all of you to spend some time thinking about things in your life that you are grateful for…”Always be watchful and thankful” Colossians 4:2 , ”Faith Hope & Love, but the greatest of these being Love” 1st Corinthians 13:13. Happy Birthday Canada & USA! ~ Your Health Ministry Team

SHARE YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT Have something to share with our church family? We welcome announcements for our weekly bulletin, including ministry updates, community events, and special celebrations. Submit here by Wednesday at noon to be included in the upcoming Sabbath bulletin (space permitting).

Following Christ is not for the faint of heart. Unless you are a cultural Christian, then it’s not so bad. Cultural Christians like the values of Christ, the fellowship of a community of faith, and knowing they are saved by grace through faith, not by works. However, there is little change in heart and mind. They continue to live like their unbelieving neighbors in how they treat others.

I have been in Psalm 42-43 for the last week, and it strikes me that the author of these Psalms is a genuine follower of God. He is in a bad way; things are not going good for him and yet he holds tight to God. “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.” Ps. 42:1 NIV. Three times he confronts himself about what he is feeling and chooses to focus on our amazing God. Ps. 42:5, 11; 43:5 “Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.”

I am challenged to ask myself, “Am I a cultural Christian or do I let the Holy Spirit transform my heart and mind to be like Jesus?” Listen to some of the stuff Paul calls us to do as followers of Christ. Romans 12:9-21 “… Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves. … Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. … Bless those who persecute you; … Live in harmony with one another. … Do not be conceited. Do not repay anyone evil for evil. … If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. … Do not be overcome by evil but overcome evil with good.”

Let’s do a “searching and fearless moral inventory” of ourselves, confront ourselves, surrender whatever holds us back from being like Jesus and open space for the Holy Spirit to transform us. Following Christ is not for the faint of heart. God knows our hearts and He strengthens us and transforms us. He’s got us!
