AAAC ANNUAL MEETING & MUSIC CONCERT The Association of African Adventists in Canada (AAAC) warmly invites everyone to its Annual Meeting on Sabbath, August 22, beginning at 10:00 AM at Burman University. This special day of worship will feature an inspiring message by Ps. Henry Tembo on “The Transforming Power of Christ” (John 1:4). The celebration will continue with a Music Concert at 3:00 PM, and everyone is welcome to attend.

HOW TO ENJOY THE OUTDOORS WITHOUT GETTING STUNG Wasp stings are common, especially during the summer months, when people spend more time outdoors. Wasps, like bees and hornets, are equipped with a stinger for self-defense. A wasp’s stinger contains venom (a poisonous substance) that is transmitted to humans during a sting. However, even without a lodged stinger, wasp venom can cause significant pain and irritation. It is also possible to have a serious allergic reaction to the venom. Prompt treatment is important to help relieve symptoms and prevent complications. Symptoms of a severe allergic reaction to a wasp sting include: 1. Severe swelling of the face, lips, or throat, 2. Difficulty breathing, 3. Diarrhea and stomach cramps, 4. Hives and itching, 5. Dizziness, 6. A drop in blood pressure, 7. Lightheadedness, 8. Loss of consciousness, 9. A weak or rapid pulse. As Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” ~ Your Health Ministry Team

Transitions
I am very aware, currently, of the many transitions we go through in life. We go from being single to being married; from being part of a team we love to a new start somewhere else without our support network; from being comfortable in our role, dare I say our identity, to retirement, the unknown; from health to life threatening disease; from united family to disconnect, and perhaps to reconciliation; from being one with another to being alone again when robbed by death; from the known to the unknown, to start a new adventure. How we cope with transitions tells us something about ourselves.
Do we rage against change? I do about inconsequential things. I rage against constantly changing technology! It invites a sense of helplessness. I like to have a sense of control, so when I feel helpless it is distressing. Do we eagerly look forward to change? I do when it is my choosing. Yet during that there is also a bit of trepidation as I step into the unknown.
In Psalm 51 David speaks of transitions. We are born with a sinful nature. We need to be constantly aware of our brokenness and in awe of God’s grace, that from conception He desires for us to grow into His likeness. He longs for us to transition from guilt and shame to knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt we are loved and cleansed by His forgiveness. Forgiveness is the
focus. God’s amazing grace. When we know we have been graced we are filled with joy, gladness, rejoicing, freedom. The natural outgrowth of this is we share the change, the transition to a new life, with others, and encourage them to experience it too. God is not focused on externals. His focus is internal, our heart condition, our increasing realization we are absolutely dependent on Him for every breath we draw as well as our ability to live and move and be, and our gratitude for His amazing grace. Whatever transition you are going through, keep your eyes fixed on God and be in awe of His grace and love.
