May your birthdays be filled with laughter, cherished moments with loved ones, and a year ahead rich with God’s blessings and peace.

THE HEALING POWER OF FRIENDSHIP Friendship is vastly underrated! Rich connections with others are at the heart of what it means to live a healthy, happy, and content life. Rick Warren, in his book The Purpose Driven Life, writes: “It is in times of deep crisis, grief, and doubt that we need each other the most. When circumstances crush us to the point that our faith falters, that is when we need believing friends the most. We need a small group of friends to have faith in God for us and pull us through. In a small group, the Body of Christ is real and tangible, even when God seems distant. “How wonderful and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in harmony!” — Psalm 133 ~ Your Health Ministry Team

SHARE YOUR ANNOUNCEMENT Have something to share with our church family? We welcome announcements for our weekly bulletin, including ministry updates, community events, and special celebrations. Submit here by Wednesday at noon to be included in the upcoming Sabbath bulletin (space permitting).

Back in 2006, there was a stretch of winter weather that turned the snowbanks rock hard, capped with a thick layer of ice. One day, as I backed out of the driveway, I heard a loud scraping sound, like I’d dragged the car along a brick wall. But there was no wall, so I just kept going and carried on with my errands. A few days later, Orlando asked, “Did you get in an accident? It looks like someone hit the car.” In that moment, it clicked, the scraping I heard was my car hitting the icy snowbank. We went outside, looked at the bumper, and sure enough, there was a cracked hole. “Oof.” Orlando looked at me and said, “So you heard the car scraping something… and just kept driving?”

Yes. That’s exactly what I did. I felt it. I heard it. And I kept going.

How often do we do the same thing in our lives? We feel the damage in our hearts but keep moving. We experience betrayal, disappointment, or sin creeping in, and instead of stopping to address it, we push forward as if nothing happened. We ignore the cracks, hoping they’ll somehow fix themselves. But healing doesn’t happen in denial. To truly heal from our own choices or from the wounds others have caused, we have to acknowledge what’s going on. We have to step out of denial, name the damage, and admit our need for God.

John 15:5 reminds us, “I am the vine; you are the branches… apart from me you can do nothing.” Without Him, we keep driving through life with unseen cracks and growing damage. Facing the broken places in our lives isn’t easy, but it’s the only path to real healing and growth.

Why We Need God:

  • For strength – We are limited, but He renews and sustains us (Book of Isaiah 40:31).
  • For life and breath – Every moment we live is sustained by Him (Acts of the Apostles 17:25).
  • For direction – We make plans, but He guides our steps (Book of Proverbs 16:9).
  • For salvation – Jesus is the only way to the Father (John 14:6).
  • For provision – Every good thing comes from Him (Book of Psalms 34:10).

Ignoring the damage might feel easier in the moment, but stopping, acknowledging it, and inviting God into those broken places is what leads to restoration.
