HAVE YOU EVER REFLECTED on how “Good Friday and Easter Sunday” represent the duality of “Suffering and Hope”? We all experience times of adversity. Our moments of despair can lead us to profound transformation. The events of Good Friday and Easter Sunday can offer comfort and encouragement to those of us who mourn or struggle. We can allow the lessons of the cross and resurrection to shape our faith and strengthen our example of Christ’s passion and resurrection power. May these events guide our lives and help us share the unconditional love God has for us with others. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says, “Faith, hope, and love, but the greatest of these is love.” ~ Your Health Ministry Team

I had sooooo many God Sightings during the Spring break. A God Sighting is when something happens that puts you in mind of God. Perhaps it is an answered prayer, a beautiful sunrise or sunset, someone being kind, encouraging, affirming, anything that makes you think about God and His love. “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17

Where did all these God Sightings happen? I had the privilege of working with the PAA Mission Trip team. This year they did their Mission Trip right here in Lacombe and Red Deer. I worked with the young people on Monday and Tuesday as we purchased supplies, prepped the food, cooked, packaged, organized and bagged 100 meals for unhoused people. We then went to Red Deer and delivered 50 meals to the Mustard Seed and 50 meals to Safe Harbor.

I loved my time with the Mission Team, the kids, Ms. Fernandez, and Pastor Dennalia. They were always respectful, joyful, helpful, hardworking, tireless, creative, kind, thoughtful, wonderful! Three young gentlemen helped me do the shopping. Very early in the process I needed something from the top shelf, and it was pushed back. Having assistants who are over six feet tall was so good! I love it! Three young men with great strength lifting and carrying for me. We got the shopping done in less than half the time it usually takes. When we got back to PAA other young people came out to help unload everything.

On Tuesday morning we were supposed to start work on the meals at 9am. The kids started arriving just after 7:30am and immediately asked what they could do. Their willingness to do whatever job needed doing, no matter how menial, to have fun while doing the work, and to keep at it until everything was complete was so inspiring and encouraging to me. I praise God for this opportunity to get to know these people better. I am so blessed.

Please take the time to smile at our young people and affirm them. They are wonderful! They are gifts from God!
