Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to officiate a wedding for a couple who were dating while they were students at Burman. It was a joy to be a part of such a wonderful weekend full of family, friends and celebration.
The wedding took place in a beautiful chapel on the campus of Tyndale University. It is hard to describe exactly how beautiful this space is. From the time we stepped into the chapel on Friday for rehearsal, I was overwhelmed by the beauty. The 30-foot stained-glass windows, the mosaic at the apse of the space, the iridescent hue of the colours of the tile.
Each of the stained glass windows had different depictions of God from scripture. Beautifully crafted, with painstaking detail, were pictures of a dove, light, and a lamb among many others. The beauty of this space brought back a song to my mind that I had heard once. I couldn’t remember exactly where I had heard it or even the lyrics.
I wanted to find the song, so I googled the lyrics I could remember. All I could remember was, “The Lion of Judah.” Do you know how many songs have those lyrics? Many. I listened to so many songs, but to no avail; sadly, I had to let it go. I picked my favourite praise song to listen to while I was prayer journaling and half-heartedly prayed that God would bring that song to mind.
It was such a small thing. Such a specific thing. It felt a little silly to pray about it, and I really wasn’t expecting anything.
Yet, as I journaled and the music I was listening to shuffled, two songs later a song came on that I had only heard once before, but knew it was the one I was looking for. “Is He Worthy.” Performed by Cece Winans on my playlist, but I had heard it for the first time as performed by the Burman University Singers last year. I invite you to listen to it. It was as beautiful as I remembered. More than that, it was a God Sighting – an expression coined by Pastor Honey. A moment where God gives us a little smile and reassurance that He is here, and He is listening, and He wants to be seen. Have you had a God sighting this week? Something small or big? What a lovely gift to be seen by God and to see Him in our lives.

~ from Pastor Massiel’s heart
