HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO MEXICO and laid on a beach mat in the sand, listening to the ocean waves rushing in and feeling the ocean breeze as the seagulls fly overhead looking for their supper. Take time to listen and pay attention to the sounds you encounter. Tune in to your thoughts and emotions, or find music or a Christian podcast that helps you channel the right message and energy for the day. Over time, and with practice, your awareness will expand to include more aspects of your body and your environment. Jeremiah 30:17 says, “I will give you back your health and heal your wounds, says the Lord.” ~ Your Health Ministry Team

Read your Bible, pray every day, pray every day, pray every day.
Read your Bible, pray every day, and you’ll grow grow grow.
If you read the above with a tune in your head, TWINNNNNNNN.
Okay, joking aside, I used to love this song as a kid, mostly because of the actions my friends and I would do in church. Now… please don’t laugh, but there was a season of my life when I genuinely believed that reading my Bible three or four times a day might help me grow taller. I had gone from being the tallest in my class to the shortest in my friend group, so I figured I had some serious Bible-reading hours to put in if I wanted to sprout a few inches overnight. Let’s just say… it didn’t work.
Now here I am in my early twenties, fully understanding the beauty in the song and the actions. Reading my Bible hasn’t made me taller physically, but it has allowed me to grow spiritually.
In November of last year, I decided to be more intentional about reading the entire Bible in chronological order, alongside my usual in-depth book and person studies. My goal has been to better understand the metanarrative of Scripture—to see how the well-known stories and the ones we often skip over all fit together. Here’s what I’ve noticed so far. First, Jesus is everywhere. He isn’t confined to the Gospels; He always has been and always will be present throughout the entire story. And second, we often rush past the details that actually bring these stories into focus. We settle for a blurred, VeggieTales version instead of digging into the details that give the text its colour, weight, and depth.
Take Exodus 26, for example—specifically verses 1, 31, and 36.
These verses sit in the middle of God’s detailed instructions for building the Tabernacle. He calls for gold, silver, bronze, and fine linens. Then comes a long stretch of measurements, materials, colours, and craftsmanship—how long, how wide, how high, how many, and how it should all be made. And if you zoom in closely, you’ll notice these repeated phrases:
by a skilled worker ~ by a skilled worker ~ the work of an embroiderer
I couldn’t get past those words. They appear again and again. And suddenly it hit me—God was using the very skills the Israelites had learned during their last season of slavery in Egypt in their new season of freedom, work, and rest. The skills that once built monuments for oppression were now being used to build a dwelling place for God. Y’all…
Read your Bible, pray every day and you’ll grow, you’ll see, you’ll learn!
