WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE FOR LIVING? As we enter into a new year, we may ask ourselves, “What is your purpose for living?” In Rick Warren’s book, The Purpose Driven Life, he writes, “Without God, life has no purpose, and without purpose, life has no meaning. Without meaning, life has no significance or hope.” Warren concludes, “The greatest tragedy is not death, but life without purpose.” Why does a sense of purpose have so many health benefits? I believe that when you have a mission or purpose in life, you are more likely to take better care of your health so you can accomplish that mission. It is healthy to live life with a purpose—not just to live longer, but to fulfill God’s plan for your life. Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.” ~ Your Health Ministry Team

Were you as obsessed as I was? For 2-3 days the most sparkly, lovely hoar frost covered our little town. While Lacombe was not the only area that got to experience this winter wonderlandness, based on my heart’s reaction, it was the prettiest here.
Jr and I took Taco to the dog park so the whole family could enjoy the beauty. The dog park in Lacombe is tucked away in the industrial part of Lacombe. The drive through there is not a scenic one. Lots of grey buildings, chain link fences and piles of stuff in gravel lots. But on Friday morning last week, it was breathtaking. EVERYTHING was white and sparkly. Every chain link fence, a marvel of winter’s kiss, every pile of pallets, wrapped like Christmas gifts in glittery frost. Even the dumpsters had a pretty white sheen on them.
While at the dog park, I got close up looks at the trees, and each one was more stunning than the last. Each one to me was the prettiest one. Each tree sparked childlike wonder in me. It was some of God’s best best work.
On the drive home, back through the industrial park, everything was still beautiful. Perhaps what made it all the more extraordinary was that it was the industrial park! Usually grey and dirty, it was white as could be. Isn’t that just how it is with God? The work He is willing and able to do in our hearts is all the more lovely because of what it looks like in there without His Hand. Our hearts can be dark, gristly and broken, and he can “make us whiter than snow.”
In this season of newness, perhaps you are discouraged by how much work there is, or how often you’ve tried, or that it’s just too dark in my heart. My friends, hold on to this reminder that where it is dark and murky, the beauty of the presence of God can be seen and experienced most remarkably. In God’s hands, your heart can be whiter than snow, and as sparkly as frost.
